Roland Freisler (1893-1945)Roland Freisler (1893-1945)Nazi lawyer. Deputy Party Leader (Gauleiter) in the district of Hesse-Nassau-North. In 1933 Freisler was appointed permanent secretary in the Prussian Ministry of Justice. From April 1934 State Secretary in the Reich Ministry of Justice. In this capacity Freisler participated in the Wannsee Conference in January 1942. From August 1942 he was president of the so-called People’s Court and thus responsible for sentencing to death many of the regime’s political opponents. Freisler was killed during an air raid on Berlin in February 1945.
